Ethereum Foundation has presented a plan to improve UX.
The Ethereum Foundation organization (EF) has launched a new phase of the Trillion Dollar Security initiative. The main focus will be on user experience (UX) in wallets and applications.
According to the foundation's research, it is the shortcomings in UX that are the most acute problem for both retail and institutional users.
Security Standard for Wallets
According to the organization, the ecosystem needs a unified security standard for wallets. It should serve as a guideline for users when choosing a reliable application.
The rules will require developers to implement transaction transparency features, protection against compromise, and confirmation management. To accelerate their development and implementation, the Ethereum Foundation will allocate a grant to the Walletbeat project.
Solving the Problem of "Blind Signatures"
One of the main UX problems is "blind signatures", where users approve transactions without understanding their essence. To address this issue, the foundation proposed several areas of work.
The first is the decoding of transaction data for presentation in a human-readable format. To simplify this task, the fund will promote the open database Verifier Alliance (VERA) to wallet developers.
The second is to review old proposals for improving Ethereum (EIP) and to create new standards that will simplify the interpretation of transactions by wallets.
The third is transaction simulation. This feature will allow the user to see the final result of the operation before it is signed.
Prevention of Vulnerabilities
Another direction is to assist developers in finding vulnerabilities in the code before deploying smart contracts. The EF will help create a unified open database of such issues. Development tools will be able to use it for automated code verification.
The fund also noted that the ecosystem needs simple wallets for non-technical users and specialized solutions for corporate clients. The organization called on the community to collaborate.
Recall that in June, the Ethereum Foundation published its first report as part of the Trillion Dollar Security initiative. Researchers highlighted six key areas that require significant improvements to ensure the security of the network in the future.
